Wellness starts within in 2024
Happy New Year!
This time of the year is a special time, but it can also be overwhelming. In the weeks leading up to the New Year we get an influx of content and conversation surrounding all things NEW. Whether you’ve been counting your grapes to eat under the table to attract new love or are planning out a new diet routine to reach your achieved body goal - we’ve all been influenced at one point in time to start our entire lives over at January 1st 12:01am.
Over the past couple of years I’ve learned to practice being a lot more intentional with how I view and approach the new year. Last year to prepare for 2023, I did a life audit and created reasonable goals that would help me achieve more stability in the different aspects of my personal Wellness. It included certain goals like Travel on a plane for the first time, get my Driver’s license, and practice more consistency and discipline with my Physical Wellness. I downloaded photos from Pinterest and printed them at Walgreens. I then created my vision board by putting photos, quotes, and affirmations in a large gold picture frame. I hung the frame in the center of my room so that I can constantly be reminded of my goals.
I achieved many of my goals in 2023 and I am pleased for the amount of growth i’ve experienced. I did in fact travel on a plane for the first time, take more driving lessons, worked on my consistency with my daily routine, and built discipline as I completed 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training while working a full time job. However, there were goals that I didn’t complete. I didn’t get my license, or travel to those two cities that I wanted to go to. I didn’t write as much as I would have liked to and I ended up not posting as much content due to focusing on my YTT. However, that doesn’t mean that I didn’t have an accomplished year. That simply just means that for the beginning of 2024, I have motivation to finish the things that I started.
This is how I want you to view 2024.
Creating new goals can feel great, but the pressure to maintain them can be a lot on your plate if you are piling new goals on top of goals that you are still working on. On day 1 of this new year, I want you to journal about where you currently are in your Wellness journey. Think about what you are doing well, and think about what areas you would like to improve on. Start with internal goals like speaking more positively to your self, getting enough rest at night, walking more, or limiting social media usage. By starting with goals that affect the way you feel and think - you can create a positive mindset that will make it easier to approach your external goals. Think how do I want to FEEL in 2024?
For me, I want to Feel and be more extroverted in 2024. I want to show up more for this community and create more spaces for us to connect. I want to feel safer and more confident in my body. I want to feel more gratitude. I want to feel healthier. I want to feel at peace within, so much so that it radiates and shows externally.
As we work on our goals Together, please remember that it will not always be easy and it does not always feel good. Change can be frightening and this Journey may still be new for you. That’s okay - Wellness is something that we will always have the opportunity to work on and there is no perfect way to do it. The focus of Wellness is to nurture the aspects of your self that contribute to your overall Well-being. Give yourself grace and create room to explore and learn new things about yourself.
Check out this playlist I created on Spotify of Solfeggio frequencies to give you a positive boost if you need one during the day or at night. Solfeggio frequencies are a series of specific sound patterns believed to possess extraordinary properties that promote various health aspects, depending on the frequency used. Using these frequencies, along with affirmations, help me to remain grounded. I use them often and am happy to share them with you. Talk Soon.
Love, Shannon
