very classy, very mindful, very selfish!

I created this community to share Wellness education and knowledge with others but to be honest, i’ve realized that this community can be so much more than a place for us to come to learn. I think we need a place to be human. As funny as it may sound, I know you know EXACTLY what I mean. I feel like the opportunity to have community and heal in community is a concept that has gotten lost over time. In society, It seems that we’re heavily influenced to make it on our own and work ourselves into oblivion. It also doesn’t help that social media has made it hard for people to co-exist with others without the fear of showing up “perfect” or making their lives seem like something that it isn’t.

It’s pretty sad, when you think about it. dare I say toxic. But I can’t necessarily shame a concept that I once was a victim to. I say once was, as someone who is truly learning not to care about what others think and instead focus on how life feels for me. I used to think that considering the thoughts of others so heavily made me a good person, but over time realized that this was making me even more self-sacrificial. SELF-SACRIFICE is the sacrifice of oneself or one's interest for others or for a cause or ideal. I began a toxic cycle of putting the needs of others before myself to the point that I was depleting myself of the very good energy, love, and care that I too deserved.

Since October was my birthday month, I began to use my time to pour more into myself and re-fill my cup. It’s opened my eyes more to the ways I would love to show up for my community and how I would like the community to show up for me. As someone who does a lot of her healing in the dark, I want to empower myself to share my journey more in the light. I hope that by doing this, I can inspire and motivate others as well to be more honest and open about the hardships of introducing Wellness into your life.

Yes, I know a lot about Wellness and Self-Care but No, i’m not perfect. I may never be! I still am figuring it all out and I want to release the concept that although I am a powerful leader, I don’t still need help, guidance, love, and understanding. Check out this video below from Niya Brown Matthews on “Reaping what you sow”

As a member of this community, I know that is something you too can understand.

1. I want you to reflect on this message today and think of the ways you may be self-sacrificial in your own life. Think of how much extra time you may give, that you may need to redirect back into yourself.

2. Create boundaries for yourself regarding your self-love and care. Measure the time that you give to others and compare it to the time that you give to yourself.

3. Grab your planner, notebook, note app, sticky-note whatever you use to plan and create a new plan for yourself! Remember we aren’t changing our lives overnight. Small mindful steps lead to strong & consistent results. Look at the Wellness routine tips below and add more Wellness into your day.

It may not be the resolution to all of your lifes problems but I promise, It can be a great start.

Until next time,
